Aweng Chuol started her life in a Kenyan refugee camp after her parents fled from war-torn Sudan.
The eldest of 12 children, she spent most of her childhood in Australia, moving there when she was seven alongside half of her siblings.
Aweng is a passionate humanitarian working alongside charities such as: War child, stand4Education, children in conflict, the unstoppable foundation and the progirls foundation and is an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.
She made her entry into the fashion industry with a Paris fashion week debut in 2018 for Vetements and since then she has worked for Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Mugler alongside others. Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty campaign made headlines when a 2019 campaign launched without retouching photos of Chuol’s scars and skin texture. In 2020 Chuol featured in Beyoncé’s visual album “Black is King,” alongside Naomi Campbell and Lupita Nyong’o.
Aweng has many creative supporters such as Nick Knight, Campbell Addy, Craig McDean, Ib Kamara, Rafael Pavarotti and Mert & Marcus, and has graced the cover of some of the world's most prestigous publications including Vogue UK, Vogue Australia, Re-Edition.
Alongside her modelling work, Aweng is an aspiring actress.
